Coming from a double bad experience at nanas kitchen to serious soul which is wayyyyyy better.! i’ve had your chicken more than once and it’s been consistent with the seasoning and moisture. no one likes a dry burnt chicken with no seasoning, and serious makes an excellent season chicken. the greens is really good and flavorful no stems and seasoned very well. the mac definitely needs some work i was sad to see the mac be so bad compared to the rest of the items. had no seasoning and pasta was over cooked, mushy, and cheese wasn’t all that tasty. i took one bite and threw out. haven’t tried the yams hopefully next time. hope they are a hit unlike nanas kitchen.
The catfish and chicken were the stars of this dinner. Crispy, juicy, perfectly breaded. The collard greens were our favorite side, sweet tea was...reeeeally sweet. The service was quick and friendly, I felt like I was eating at a relatives house with how kind we were treated.
I’m a pretty good cook, according to friends and family. That said- the collards I had tonight make what I cook taste like lawn mower clippings. These tonight had big firm pieces of greens, lots of meat and a perfect amount of bite with each mouthful. The catfish was moist but crunchy. The peach cobbler was smack your momma amazing. My only complaint was I had to smell it all the way home, since I couldn’t eat at the restaurant. It is the absolute perfect hole in the wall place to eat. I’m visiting my daughter (she and hubby just moved to Pacific WA) from Anchorage. I won’t eat there regularly- but my daughter will. She loved the pork BBQ and mashed taters. Her husband had fried chicken and greens. I could see Guy Fieri coming by for a Triple D segment.
First time in and loved it. Catfish was just perfect. We had Mac cheese, mashed potatoes and red beans and rice. They were excellent. The most surprising thing was the strawberry cake. It was delicious.
