I met my wife of almost 30 years right across the street from this establishment over 30 years ago at her apartment there. We lived in Augusta when we married. I'm from Wichita, originally. We often walked across the street to get some food when we lived there right after we met/married. This joint holds a special place in our hearts. We moved away years ago to Haysville but we come back to Augusta often to reminisce on our beginnings. This burger stand is often closed these days and the hours are unpredictable because they close whenever it is slow (According to their facebook page. We traveled to Augusta Saturday evening from Haysville after calling them to see if they were open and when we arrived, ordered and received our food, it was totally fresh and delicious and completely on-point! It took us back to our beginnings in Augusta and along with driving around town, we had a very nice time. I highly recommend this place.
This is the best walk-up American restaurant. I got the giant cheeseburger and it was phenomenal. I do wish the fried okra had been fried with cornmeal breading, as the flour didn't hold very well to the okra and wasn't as crunchy as I had hoped. This is truly a Midwest culinary staple. I strongly recommend anyone visit this little eatery. The owner is so friendly and kind. To the owner, I wasn't able to stop by after my tattoo, so I attached a photo for you to see :
Walk up joint out side tables for picnic atmosphere staff is friendly Parking: Open environment side and street parking Kid-friendliness: Welcome to every one
I went there Friday because I guess it was having a street dance and I was very hungry. And I went over there to order a hamburger and some tater tots and a large drink. This was one of the best hamburgers I have ever eaten in a long long time. I give them 100% on everything as well as their staff they were the friendliest and wonderful people to talk to. But their food tasted like back in the days 20/30 years ago when hamburgers were the greatest things to eat and they still have that tastes here at so if you're out and you're in Augusta and you want something fast but also the best you've ever had go to Miller 5 in they are the place to go. I will be going there whenever I want one of the best hamburgers I've ever had in my life
