Excellent establishment, very tasty salads, huge portions of food. Very fast cooking and good staff service.
My go to Owl of Minerva restaurant is located in Mississauga, so I will be comparing the two. There’s also a competing Korean bbq place nearby that I will also be making comparison to. Lastly, I want to mention the staff is extremely friendly.1. Pork Tofu Soup: cooked extremely well. The tofu is soft and the poached egg was perfect! However, I had the seafood version in Mississauga and there’re actual chucks of seafood like shrimp and clams etc. in there. So I was expecting pieces of pork. Instead, it’s ground pork, which is a little disappointing. Taste is good. However I prefer the seafood version better as it has more depth in flavour. I don’t recommend this dish to anyone that can’t eat spicy food. If you’ve ever tried Shin Ramyeon, it’s that level of spice.2. Korean seafood/green onion pancake: again cooked extremely well. Crispy outside and soft inside. This dish alone was $22 so I was expecting a lot more seafood. Instead there’re way more vegetables. You can barely see or taste the seafood bits. I only spotted small pieces of shrimp here and there. Whereas in the korean bbq place, there’re obvious chunks of squid, larger shrimp pieces etc. I prefer their taste too. Their sauce is on the sweeter side which pairs well with the savoury pancake. Owl’s sauce is too salty for me.3. Side dishes: I got rice, which is cooked perfectly. Kimchi, which is absolutely delicious. Tastes super fresh and not overly sour or spicy. Pickled cucumber, which tastes good, but unfortunately is NOT fresh. You can tell the skin is getting wrinkly and the crunch is not there. Again, the ones I’ve had in Mississauga was much fresher. In total I paid a little over $47.
Sooo yummy! My sister and I came for lunch, got some dumplings, BulGoGi, and DdukBokGi, it was all sooo delicious, even as leftovers the food is still tasty. Great spice and flavour. Highly recommend! They offered some side dishes for the table, like kimchi, cucumbers and a fews others and refilled it when we were finished. But the staff there was super friendly and attentive. Great place. Cant wait to go back.
Why am I giving one star?First of all, food is okay, that I have 4 stars. When I pick up my order, there is a group of six people coming in for din-in. The server said, if over six people need to charge 20% service charge that is ridiculous. Then the party said maybe we should split it into half.I just don’t understand what kind of difference service they are going to provide with six people more or less???????????????I don’t think they are fine dining
