Noticing Katsu on the menu, we decided to order the chicken katsu don along with a roll and some sushi. However, the chicken katsu was disappointing; it lacked flavor and the breading was soggy, falling short of the crispy texture we expected. The sushi was decent—not bad, but there’s definitely room for improvement. We did enjoy the dragon roll, although some of the avocado was a bit browned. While the prices are reasonable, the quality of the food doesn't quite match up, especially considering the somewhat unfriendly service we experienced.
My wife and I had a fantastic time at the restaurant! We absolutely loved the Diablo, Fire Cracker, Red Dragon, and Spicy Tataki rolls—they were all delicious and fresh. The Diablo roll had a wonderful combination of flavors, especially with the scallops! We also noticed a Hawaiian Volcano roll at another table that was actually lit up; it looked amazing! We're definitely planning to return! Food: 5/5
This is one of my favorite spots for sushi in South Austin. I used to come a lot for lunch but then I started working further away so now I probably come once every 2 months. It’s been a while since I came here this time. I was greeted promptly. They always remember what I drink. Laura, my server came up and she remembered me, how sweet is that. She then brought me the Mexican roll which I had ordered. It’s one of my favorites. She had the kitchen make it all fancy for me. I felt so special. Highly recommend this place. Their sushi is fresh and delicious and their service is amazing.
I ordered the tonkatsu set. The pork was okay. It was not great. It tasted like breaded pork, which it should, but the kind you reheat after it's frozen rather than making it fresh. There's definitely better tonkatsu out there. The california roll wasn't good to me. Just tastes a bit like mayo, and I assume there's fake crab in it, so that turned me off.The sauce for the tonkatsu was totally off. It wouldn't be hard for them to just get a better sauce, and I'm a little perplexed why they messed that part up. (You can also see a soy sauce in the image, which was fine and just tasted like soy sauce.)My favorite part of the set was the vegetable tempura, which actually seemed very well made.Dietary restrictions: Had non-dairy options.
We had a wonderful time!!! Yanagi boat was plenty for two. Every piece hit! Definitely going back.
