Cafe Loren - AVALON

Year after year, my visits to Cafe Loren have always been a delight. The food is exceptional, ranging from the house salad and Caesar salad to the incredible pistachio-crusted goat cheese beets! I've dined here twice in the past four days during restaurant week, and everything from the BBQ pork chop to the chicken and salmon has been outstanding. If there were a photo in a food dictionary for pan-seared scallops, it would definitely be from this restaurant. The presentation of the dishes is so beautiful that you're treated to a visual feast before you even take a bite. And the desserts? Simply delicious! The staff is top-notch—professional, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to accommodate your needs. I would give Cafe Loren five stars and even more if I could! Another year, another visit, and nothing has changed—still excellent food, beautifully plated, and excellent service. Wow!

I was so impressed with this little shore jewellery! The menu was fantastic, well thought out and creative. I wanted every article! During the presentation of everything a careful care was carried out. I could see the consistency of the plates throughout the restaurant. Our server was well informed and unobtrusive. We had the chili shrimp, the scallop appetizer, and the veins. Each piece of meat was perfectly cooked. As a chef, I'm not impressed to get out. The scallops were supposed and perfectly cooked, the puree smooth, the shrimps were perfection! The sauce on the calf was brilliant, and the calf melted in the mouth! I'll be back next year!

This is THE place to go in Avalon for a special meal. Romantic, delicious food, byob. We go Every time we are in Avalon! A MUST!

The peanut butter chocolate pie is hands down the best peanut butter and chocolate dessert I have ever tasted, and I really enjoy my desserts! The rest of the meal was just as impressive. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting.

Superb! Our first time here. Nick and the entire wait staff were terrific, very friendly, professional, knowledgeable about the menu. Food was truly excellent! Seafood bisque was rich, just the right kick, and lots of seafood chunks. House salad very fresh, nice light dressing. Halibut was amazing, wonderful combination of flavors over saffron risotto with a couple chunks of chorizo an unusual accompaniment, but it worked. Veal Loren was delicious, tender, kind of a riff on veal oscar with crab and asparagus, plus shrimp. I was a little reluctant about the garlic cream sauce, but the garlic was very subtle and didn 't overwhelm. Sat outside on what used to be a parking area, nicely set off with potted arborvitae, very pleasant! We 'll certainly return and I highly recommend Cafe Loren, we love to support small, chef owned restaurants ... great find!
