Contribuisci feedbackWhilst I acknowledge other people's comments I have to say that our experience was very positive. We visited at a lunchtime on a Wednesday. We did not have sea food but my wife's brochette was delicious and my pork steak with fried egg was also very tasty and well cooked. The dishes were accompanied with cabbage and carrot in butter with roast potatoes (my wife's meal) and I had rice, parmentier potatoes and salad. With a half bottle of slightly sparkling white wine and a cola the bill was 26.50 euros. Very good value for good food. Service was quite slow bit there was one waiter and a several tables to serve. The time was not a problem to us. Looking at the high prices of some restaurants facing the river, this small restaurant just off the main road and up a few steps is worth checking out. We liked it.
Service was ok. We both ordered soup that was okay tasting however, it was cold. The main course: steak, smelled so bad I couldn't even taste it! Waiter came back to ask how did we enjoy it, we basically said we did not and asked for him to take the food away. He was apologetic though we were asked to pay a full bill. The worst restaurant we've been to in Portugal.
It's an awesome place to eat amongst locals. Beware: they serve huge portions and will try to sell you 1 portion per person. Instead ask for 1 portion for 2 people. They do this even to portuguese people that go there less often. The food is really great. The service very poor, but the food compensates. Ask for beer, the house wine isn't very good, even for low cost standards.
High prices for a bad quality. Without asking they put on our table snacks: olives, bread, a couple of small boxes with butter, cheese and pate everything you can have for free even in a very cheap hotel for breakfast. You will need to pay for it afterwards. We paid 45 euros for two and didn 't eat main part of the course rice with seafood, snacks we didn 't order and bottle of water. Rice with seafood was unpalatable and even dangerous because crab claw was broken and we needed to eat very slowly to be sure that small pieces of it will not injure mouth. There were crab sticks you can buy as cheapest subproduct in every law cost supermarket and starchy rice, liquid sauce like a soup in it. So even if you are very hungry don 't eat here, you will feel yourself like a stupid tourist totally fooled afterwards.
The place looked nice and welcoming at first sight, but the food quality was terrible. Arroz de mariscus (seafood rice was terrible with a lot of small and sharp bits from crab shells, cutting in the mouth, full of cheap crab sticks!! (First time we saw this in seafood dish! , taste was oversalted, price 30 eur for a 2 pax dish was an average in the neighbourhood, but day before we had the same dish in another restaurant for less but it was excellent! Another tourist trap before meal they brought olives, bread, butter.. Nice, till you realize it will be added to thhe bill as some extra around 10 eur! Worst experience ever, so be warned..
