Food is great, unlimited self-service coffee. I love this place. Very recommended, make sure to get early. Make it popular so it can be busy.
I ordered simple over-easy eggs, which came with extra butter on rye toast and an English muffin as requested. The homemade corned beef hash was quite good, but there were too many green peppers in it, and the portion size seemed small. For just an extra dollar, I could have had a larger serving, but I didn't want cheddar cheese on it. In hindsight, I should have ordered it anyway and asked for no cheese, which would have given me a larger portion along with a side of bacon—my mistake. The staff was friendly and attentive, and I appreciated the self-service coffee station. The waitress even brought me hot sauce without me asking, which earned them a solid 5 stars from me.
I had a fantastic breakfast! The omelet was delicious, accompanied by perfectly cooked home fries and toast. The portions were generous and the service was quick, especially for a busy Saturday morning! The restaurant has a charming decoration and a lovely terrace with stunning views of Avon Mountain. It’s a great spot for families, and the prices are reasonable too.
First timer here. A very bright and cheerful place. Welcomes immediately with a choice from outside or inside dining room. We had breakfast and the menu has something for everyone. The eggs Benedikt were very good snoring the things French toast extraordinary too. Server was attentive and food came out hot in time. Would like to taste their lunch menu. We will be back!!!
On our next visit, we ordered two chicken salads, a Reuben with corned beef, and a Pinchot Stackamore Club. Each came with a pickle and a bag of potato chips. In searching for a place to eat while in this part of town, I considered Riverdale Farms since we’ve visited for various services for years. It’s a lovely country setting with barn-like structures and lush green lawns. With Avon mountain and the Heublein Tower in view, I noticed Avon Country Deli, which was a new find for us at the back of the complex. The photos showed a spacious patio with tables and umbrellas—perfect for a beautiful summer day. Their menu had the comfort food we were craving, making it an ideal choice. This experience was mixed, as each of the five of us had different encounters with our meals. One diner raved about the delicious house iced tea lemonade. Two others who ordered take-out sandwiches were quite pleased with their selections. Some sandwiches are named after local Avon landmarks, like the Governor's Horse Guard, which featured roast beef, provolone, horseradish sauce, lettuce, and tomato on rye. The recipient rated it 4 out of 5 stars. The chicken salad on white bread was a hit too, gaining a perfect rating. Both appreciated the included pickle and bag of potato chips. I had the Sonoma Chicken Salad served on lettuce with cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and grapes, accompanied by a dressing. It was tasty, but there was too much lettuce for my taste, so I couldn’t finish it. Next time, I’ll opt for the chicken salad on bread, giving mine a solid 4 stars. Unfortunately, the Buffalo Chicken Salad was a letdown, yielding only 2 stars from my partner, who was disappointed. The menu described it as a mix of buffalo chicken, bacon, avocado puree, celery, carrots, and blue cheese dressing, but what arrived was mostly lettuce, a few plain chicken slices, and shredded carrots. We were confused whether it was roast chicken or deli meat because it was so thinly sliced. There was no seasoning at all; just a decorative swirl of sauce on top, which didn’t meet our expectations. The other ingredients were completely missing—no bacon, no avocado puree, no celery. He noted that the blue cheese dressing tasted more like ranch, and he wished it had more texture. Additionally, our server had a brusque demeanor from the start. When we asked for a table for three, she informed us that they would be closing in 45 minutes. I mentioned I had checked their hours online, which indicated they were open from 2 to 7. She clarified that perhaps I meant 7 to 2. It was clear she was in a hurry to close, as she began folding up the table umbrellas around us. Despite these hiccups, we plan to return for the dishes we enjoyed and to explore their extensive breakfast menu. The location is lovely, and we’re looking forward to another visit.
