Shame it is just too far away to be a regular visit, and very sad to hear that they have made the difficult decision to close the kitchen...... Tough times bring bad news.... This was and is our favourite restaurant , we are so , so sad to hear of its closure. We have had the most amazing meals there and have not only recommended it but took most of our family and friends there for a beautiful meal . We have stayed in one of the rooms and have to say it was fresh and clean . Thank you for all the gorgeous meals and hospitality .so,so sad . Service: Dine in

This is a beautiful, friendly, quirky old pub with fabulous eating and drinking, great atmosphere and some rooms to stay. the menu is really interesting and eating nicely cooked. crab toasts, megrim sole with tiles and comminuted boobs (which thought it) delicious....Mallard with glimmer in cover. great English breakfast after a good nights sleep. at dinner, only when we thought it could not be better my wife and I were asked to be judges in the local sloe gin competition. 14 rehearse later .................... we come back!
After we read the reviews we booked here when we went to waddesdon manor. pub wasn't open so we let ourselves in the back door. there is no direct access from the rooms to the inner of the pubs. we were a night, room 4 needs. a head part and a chair, and a dust, although a comfortable bed. low deck in the bathroom and quirky uneven floor plates. room 5 a single, very low deck suitable only for a child. red window frame, cracked glass, dirty difficult to pull blind, nosiey rayer that kept my friend awake all night. small bathroom, loo squeezed in by shower. the room is so small that it is recommended to open a window to cook the boiler to stop the smoke alarm off, or as recommended by the owner to put the boiler on the landing!. my friend had no sleep all night and was ice cold when she had to turn off the radiator. housekeeper told us owners knew about windows / rooms for weeks, but nothing had done to fix the problem. the menu is inspired withchellin with plastered cabbage, picked walnuts, meerrettich, white beans, which are included on the menu and partly written in French. it doesn't sell because there is no description. featherstone bavette .local bred pork chop boiled pink. bark marinated what I felt as hard. unfortunatley not for us. my last job worked as restaurant manager in a 5-star hotel knightsbridge and I fought to choose from the menu. the owners were fast, both rooms and bills to remove, thank you. the breakfast was excellent, although a pot tee, instead of a cup, a menu, and some ohrengrau tee might have been nice. we found the choice of very dark green walls and deck too dark. as a very old inn, has simply not done justice.
