We were pleasantly surprised by this ski chalet! It looks like all the other cottages in the area, but is much more beautiful in a closer look. It offers table service, has all the usual Austrian hut food, but also offers some interesting...alternatives. The carrot ginger soup was delicious! And they did not play the typical (annoying) après ski music. Very refreshing!
Great place to stop for lunch. Friendly staff, fast service, good food, reasonable prices, fantastic views. What is not to like :
Did not even know there was a restaurant at the side of the Jungeralm lift. We wanted to stay on the mountain and ski the powder and luckily stopped and discovered this gem of a restaurant. Inside was really busy, so we were seated outside....Touch cold, but our really nice waitress got some blankets etc for our legs. Food drinks arrived really fast. The food was excellent, with much larger portions than many of the other mountain restaurants. The apple strudel is a must if you have room. Only staying 4 days and would have to rate this one as the best, though they were all 5* in my book. Nice touch after the meal that our waitress invited the children into the restaurant to warm themselves by the oven/heater. It is these nice touches that makes Austrian hospitality stand way out in front of other ski countries like Switzerland. (tall statement as my wife is Swiss and she agrees) Wish I had caught her name, but she was really pleasant and attentive, great ambassador for the restaurant and Gastein hospitality. It is service like this and quality food that made our last day skiing so memorable. Many thanks to all the staff.
Very rustic but comfy lodge feeling inside. Very popular. Staff is always trying to find a place for you which sometimes means sharing a table with others which can be fun. Restaurant has daily specials. We loved the Kaiserschmarn ! There is just one chef...that is cooking this fluffy all day and is one of the best I have tasted in Austria and Germany. Be warned you can order only portion from 2 person onwards and it is a meal in it own right. The soups are also very nice especially their cheese dumpling soup. Sounds gross but tastes lovely. Pork chops with bacon, as well as the house Burger were lovely.
