La Gourmet - Baia Mare

I love this restaurant for many reasons: the location is close to the city, so it is not so crowded usually. We also love to go on theme nights where you can see food like those that have been attached in the pictures I have. I always feel great there and I usually enjoy mature beef products. The Romanian President was also a guest of this restaurant and hotel. I highly recommend this hotel!

It's a bit out of town, but we decided to go because my local Romanian friend strongly recommended. We found him right. My children loved their popato soup, which is very warm and tasty. Beef was juicy with crispy surface. Perfect. But I even liked...more a duck with red cabbage, soaked in fruits (probably, cramberry or a kind of berry). This sweet and acidic cabbage with a duck meat is surprisingly good combination. Also good that we didn't wait long from the starter to the dessert. Prices are: beef 59 lei, duck 37 lei, dessert 20 lei. I don't remember the potato soup, but less than 20 lei. You also have a hotel, looks pretty nice because the receptionists were very friendly. It is worth taking a taxi to eat there or stay there to eat!

The restaurant is from the city (like 4 km) to not get there by public transport. Reservation is most likely optional because not many locals visit the place. Saturdays there may be a wedding, so it might be useful to get in front of the phone. The menus are digital on tablets that are a novelty in the area. Service is good, but nothing extraordinary. You can find all local specialties on the menu depends on your luck on how well the cook can prepare your choice. The setting is nice and the place looks quite new.

The challenge to use a digital menu is that the customer expects the food plate exactly as shown in the picture. This place is not a fine restaurant at all, as the menu photos would recommend and how they describe themselves... on their website. I ordered the only salad in the menu and came up with a lot of Mayo dressing that I returned. I got a second salad plate, but goat cheese was almost invisible. I think this record was estimated at 8 euros. The main course was MILLE FEUILLE DIN FILE BIBAN CU SOS DIN COZZE, TARTAR DIN LEGUME SI OREZ. Fish and shells were nice. The sauce was pure tomato sauce concentrate and vegetables were peas and carrots. No rice. You can compare it with the photo and laugh. Finally, my experience was bad, with bad food and minimal service. I wouldn't recommend it.
