Contribuisci feedbackThis review concerns Fairway Cabins, I can't talk to the lodge rooms. Make yourself a favor and avoid the Fairways! When we arrived at 7:00, nobody was on the desk. The confirmation information we received was checked by 730. Instead, our name and the room keys were left in an insecure area where someone could have taken. We've never seen a concierge/desk client before. We had some problems with the room I'll share below. The greeting letter that was left with our keys had a number that should call/text as needed. It took 5 hours and two texts before we heard from everyone about our problems. The room had a great smell that never left. The water had a hard mineral/metallic taste (red or hard water, possibly both), which stained the sink and made a bad taste. The water also had a slightly fishy taste, enough that we had to buy bottle water to clean our teeth. When booking the room. It said air conditioning was included; what it was not to say was that it was a window unit only in the bedroom and the sleeping couch/living room area did not have, so that rooms were always uncomfortable. Of course, advertising is misleading. It was cool in the evenings and when we turned on the heat it didn't work. It required maintenance to get out and fix what occurred until later on the second day. To add insult, they curbed the heat to 90°F on the thermastat and left it there, as we came back, the room was quite hot. A window was cracked along the glass. All lathes on the windows do not work so that we could not open/close them. A window was left open before we came there and even maintenance could not repair/close what was interesting when it rained the next day. Not to mention a security risk as you are on the ground. The shower head must be pulled down on the bottom of the tap, which is not a typical configuration. There was no sign of how to switch between bathroom and shower function, nor was it specified in the welcome letter. The welcome letter delivered a false or non-functional Wifi password and also stated that there is a fob for the lobby that turns out is no longer up to date practice. The cabin was booked because it advertises a bedroom and pull-out sofa bed; Nevertheless there were no bed linen, blankets or pillowcases for the pull-out bed. Neither the welcome letter nor the confirmation e-mail indicated that you had to inform them before that leaves would be desired for the extract. Fairway cabins do not have room service, so if you want the towels to be changed, etc. you need to go to the lodge desk to get them. Parking is terrible, the letter said to park in the back of the cabins, but it is a narrow track and on a few inmates, it was so tight with cars you could hardly leave through. There is also no illumination in the back and the plaster was broken in a few places by tree roo
I am hesitant to write a review for this place, because I want to make sure there are rooms when we visit next! We had such a nice stay in Maxwelton Braes. It is a slower pace golf resort (which means the bar and surroundings were beautiful. I'm not sure how old the building is, but it was wonderfully cultivated, and the dark wood and old fortifications around the building made it feel both cozy and elegant. Our favorite part of the lodge was the lobby area. There is a beautiful sun room with table, comfortable couch and fire pit. This was perfect for lazy morning coffee and late nightcats. Location was great- close enough to everything without feeling cheesy and touristy. We will definitely stay again:
During the entire process, employees were so friendly and supportive. It made the whole world of difference that we access the property from Friday to Sunday making decoration and cleaning low stress. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to host an intimate wedding that uses the natural beauty of the complex.
The location is really nice and the staff is definitely friendly as other reviewers have commented. We liked the ambience, the quiet and beautiful terrain. The Fairway Suites (Rustic Cabins) however need some important DC. While very spacious, the decor is beyond only rustic and in desperate need of cleaning and maintenance. The cabins need a very deep cleaning and probably new carpet and furniture. The smell of the cabin has a heavy old musty, wet, cellar type smell that penetrates through all your clothes. The safety of breathing in this smell over longer nights is very questionable. There is a sense that the cabin as a whole is dirty and dusty and was a pretty branch for our family. In addition, the water from the bathroom and the shower has an intensive metallic/rusty duct odour. You leave the shower that smells like lead. We found the shower/tub was not very clean and left many long hair from who was the previous guest. On the plus side, the beds and bed linen were probably the cleanest and most convenient part of the cabin. A little more attention to the rest of the cabin would go a long way to win people to come back. If we came back, we would try to stay in the rooms in the main lodge.
We love the atmosphere of Maxwelton Braes. I dream of years gone by. My husband enjoys golf. Tonight we ate fish fry via Sister Bay Bowl at Max. It was delicious. Enjoyable live music. Friendly staff. Nice pour at the bar. I want to go back.
