Tzatziki wasn’t my favorite, but everything else was good.Very busy, so don’t plan on it being a quick stop. Because they are busy, bathrooms, tables, and floors were messy.Overall, I’d stop again
So happy they didn't choose this location! Their dill ranch is to die for!! Friendly family that was accommodating and enjoyable to talk to.Parking: Plenty of parking to choose from.
For decades (since the 1970s), I’ve driven along Interstate 15 when commuting between my home in Southern California and destinations like Utah and Las Vegas. And along the way, I’ve always driven past the tiny desert town of Baker, located between Barstow, CA and the Nevada border. I’ve seen the highway billboards advertising the Mad Greek Café, seen the banners along the road near the restaurant, and even watched the restaurant being profiled on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” program. Yet, it wasn’t until my wife and I were on our way home from a visit to Death Valley at the end of January 2023 that I finally visited the Mad Greek Café. This is certainly an interesting-looking place, with the dining patio surrounded by replicas of classic Greek statues. The dining room is also quite large, indicating that they get plenty of visitors. On our visit my wife ordered a spicy hummus and pita appetizer along with a bowl of Avgolemono (Greek Lemon Chicken Soup), while I opted for a Falafel Pita Wrap. We also shared a pistachio baklava for dessert. NOTE that if you are not a fan of Mediterranean food, there is a decent selection of burgers, salads and sandwiches on the menu as well. My wife enjoyed her spicy hummus (the pita was very good) and liked her Avgolemono, which was quite lemony. My falafel was just OK, as it was a bit dry and overcooked. Our baklava was delightful. Despite its size, the dining room looked pretty clean, the service was efficient, and the prices were not that out of line for what we received. Our experience wasn’t wonderful, but it wasn’t awful, either – it was fine. Still, after all these years, I’m glad I had the opportunity to finally experience the Mad Greek Café.
How is this only at 4 stars? The restaurant looks cool and the food is great. I personally love the Beef Lamb Gyro, they do fries well too. Some of the best I’ve had I’m picky about my fries. I recommend stopping here on road trips to Vegas AND on the way back.Insta@northern_maverick
Glad we found Mad Greek! Stopped here while pulling off the interstate while I was refueling.Excellent food and service. I tried their falafel and a few of their baked goods and a shake. Will definitely stop again when I’m in the area- just to go here.
