If one will plan to have a dinner, it would be great to order your food to be served in advanve. For the Transportation: you will need to have your own or rent a car/motorcycle/etc to get you in the place. The ambiance is not so perfect but is it good. For your next food-adventure! Come visit The Stranded Shipscook Inn!
This restaurant is situated in a remote area in Pondol,Balamban. From Balamban, it is on the left side. About half kilometer from the main road. There is a feddle road beaide Belen's Inato Restaurant. Go straight on this half -concrete private road. Its location is not the typical restaurant along the highways or on the mountain top where tourists normally visit. It is a two-storey old house. They converted the first floor to a restaurant. The parking can only cater up to 6-7 American pick-up trucks and cars. Be patient when you order. Since they freshly cook your food prior to serving them so they are served hot, yummy and spicy. Their specialty is Thai Curry. They can cook also European foods like Schintzel, Rosti and Steak. They accept reservation. En guete!
Tried to visit in 2017 Never found the place. We were on motorbike. Very rough road and finally gave up. Back then there were few reviews and frankly, I thought the place was imaginary, perhaps a locals ' joke. Now I see recent reviews and photos so I 'll accept it as real. Decent restaurants in and around Balamban are few, especially sit-down restaurants so eventually when I return, we 'll be more persistent and hunt the place down. We ended up on a dirt path (barely a road) and could find only a single sign. Perhaps the owner has put up new signs.
Called this restaurant on friday to make a booking for saturday. I was told they close at 8pm so I said I 'd be there at 6.30pm. I was told this was ok. Arrived there on Saturday about 6pm after walking 400mtrs up a dark lane from the main road to be told my husband is not here, we are closed ANNOYED.!!!
The staff are extremely attentive, and the food remains excellent even when Günther isn’t present. He has trained his team very well, and they manage the bistro excellently. Make sure to try all the dishes on the menu; you’ll be as thrilled as I always am! It’s a great spot for German natives who occasionally crave German food. I highly recommend trying the railway barrier (German sausage with curry sauce, mayonnaise, and fries), as well as the steak, pizza, and kassler. If you’re in Balamban, don’t miss it!
