We had an early booking, so not many people at the time. Unfortunately, there were a couple of hiccups. I ordered the Poke dish and the lime dressing and avocado were not included. They rectified that and brought it afterwards. I enjoyed the dish with the correct ingredients. My son found a small piece of plastic in his food and notified the waiter. I didn't think this was good enough to have 2 incidents at one sitting. Otherwise, I would probably dine at the Boatshed again, when in Ballarat.
I haven’t been to The Boatshed for a while but chose it to catch up with an old friend there who we needed time to catch up. The Boatshed didn’t disappoint- we had a delicious relaxed lunch and no pressure to keep ordering more or to leave after 3 hours which some cafes and restaurants do to you in Ballarat with only alllowing one hour. I’ll be more of a regular now! Very cosy on a cold day with a lovely view of activities on the lake
Had the small calamari. The calamari and aioli was tasty but the salad was disappointing. Could have added a little tomato and capsicum.
Looked nice, nicely set out, inviting and lovely friendly staff. Unfortunately, the food let the whole thing down. The prawn croquettes, lovely golden and crispy on the outside, flavorless goop on the inside. If there were any prawns in there, they went in on a windy day. Doughy white sauce is not what you expect in a croquette. We'd asked for some bread, but that never appeared. Our mains were also disappointing. The battered barramundi was obviously the barramundi off cuts the 3 bites on each of the small pieces would probably have been nice, if the batter had not been so greasy. The fries were mostly the scraps and bits that had fried to a crisp, served in a tiny vase thing. My wife had the seafood laksa, which had some seafood in it, and noodles, but there the similarity to laksa ends. Eggplant in laksa? Curry flavor broth was the best you could really say for it. The rich spicy flavorful Asian dish this was not. We got the lemon cheesecake to go, which was by far and away the best thing we had. Well worth seeking out alternatives if you find yourself hungry in Ballarat.
Great location on the deck overlooking the lake. We had multiple share plates all of which were delicious. But if that wasn’t enough the icing on the cake was the table service. Perfect!
