Eldorado Bistro - Ballarat

If you are after a nice family meal, served hot and quickly you can do a lot worse than the Sebas Bowling club.

Staying down the street for the weekend & recommended by a local as being good value for money. Being a bowling club bistro I expected a bit better decor/ambience than this but we had our booked table so we stayed for dinner. The place is a bit like a country town RSL with workers & families but a few minutes of acclimatizing & I realised that is where we are this weekend – in a country town, albeit one of the biggest in Victoria. Asked the locals for recommendations, bought tickets for the meat raffle & ordered our food – mains only looked sufficient from observation although we did share a garlic bread. My wife has a Yellow Piccolo & I several schooners of their finest – all at fair prices & the beer was cold & very welcome. Garlic bread was ordinary & had little garlic but was edible. I had a parma & prawns which was fairly good. The prawns were fine, the parma juicy but was ruined to some extent by the sauce which cost the meat any crispness. Fair fries. My wife had the Fisherman’s Plate – was a choice of fried or grilled & she chose grilled. However only the fillet of fish was grilled, all other was fried & she could not eat it – or very little anyway. So mine was quite good but my wife was disappointed. Did not win any of the meat raffles either.

Orders incorrectly taken. Missing meals. Burnt snitzels. Nice people who work there but the food needs work.

Beautiful well cooked food and fantastic attentive staff. The salad and vegetable bar is always fresh with a great variety.
