Food 4.5 Staff 5 Room 2.5 Bathroom 2 General state of the castle 2.5 So we had the Blade steak and it was fab, so is the chowder and the terrine and Colm in the bar and Gustavo in the restaurant could not have been nicer. Great pint of stout too. So the room, it’s OK. Yes lots of old furniture that looks great but is impractical in 2023 the bed is comfortable. We were in room #2 and went to be a bit early over than normal (we were exhausted) but because the room is above the bar we could hear the patrons for quite a while. The bathroom leaves a lot to be desired, especially the mold situation in the shower and especially around the windows. The remainder of the house is OK but for a 4 star hotel you would expect more. We were told last call is at 9:30am for breakfast, we missed that, even though we were woken to the sound of the vacuum cleaner banging about at 7am. Dozed back off I guess. Thankfully they allowed us to have breakfast at 10. My wife made a good observation, we believe it is owned and operated by the owners…it could probably do with some professional guidance and a keen eye. A place like this takes a lot of money to maintain, I get it, so it could do with an injection of cash and a little makeover and it would be fab. I’ve lived in the states long enough to know that this would not pass muster with the US travelers. We were supposed to stay two nights but left after one. I would eat here again, but one stay is enough for me.
The hotel is amazing! The Staff, the food, the rooms , all was excellent. I definitely recommended
Just had a two day pre Christmas break at Belleek Castle and it was great the room was very comfortable the staff could not do enough for us and the food was first class. A special mention for two members of staff the bar manager Stephen and the hotels new Chef Gordon a very talented and funny young man who I know has a shining future in the business I would have no problem recommending this hotel.
Went here for some lunch and it was not great at all. I had the pulled beef ciabatta special and it wasn’t even ciabatta bread that I got! It was a horrible crusty old bread roll instead. Very misleading! The salad was awful with no dressing or anything. The chips were good but it’s very hard to get them wrong. The calamari was okay, a lot of squid tentacles and not so many rings though and the peppercorn on it was just repulsive! The only thing that was good was the hot chocolate unfortunately.
I have visited Jack Fenn's on many occasions in the past and was always very satisfied with the quality of food presented. However, I could not believe how much the dining experience has declined in such a short space of time. I ordered a quinoa salad, which, as you would expect, should contain quinoa, but it didn't, so a quinoa salad without quinoa novel, to say the least. The salad was also supposed to have beetroot and hummus, yes you guessed it, these advertised ingredients didn't make an appearance either. What did arrive was a small portion of mixed lettuce, cous cous, 2 small tomatoes and very processed cheese cut in strips resembling cheese strings. There was no salad dressing. It was very disappointing for a 12 euro lunch salad. The other order was the vegetable soup, which completely lacked flavour and was very bland. The only redeeming thing about the experience was the pleasant waiter and the good coffee. Pity the efforts of kitchen staff didn't match those on the floor.
