Visiting this bakery can be good especially for their sausage rolls but even they can be a hit or miss as sometimes they are perfect and then other times they are hard. Staff friendly enough and prices cheap enough.
I don't know if it is due to the death of Billy who was a very nice person but I called this weekend for some sausage rolls on the way past and they are even shorter than last time and the pastry has completely gone awry. I do not know what is wrong but the pastry after Billy's passing has lost something special it had. I now would have to say that Barrs Sausage rolls are just delicious compared with the present quality of Irons once famous Sausage Rolls. You need to find out what is wrong as I used to be getting the last few sausage rolls left shortly after 3 and on Saturday there were lots and lots left. I am just trying to get Irons back where they used to be.
The apple and rhubarb tarts at this restaurant are the best! They are full of fruit and nothing can compare, except when I make them myself. I always like to add in a couple of sausage rolls as well.
The bread is always fresh, the staff is friendly, and they make delicious sandwiches. The restaurant offers a wide variety of bread, cakes, and tray bakes.
