Contribuisci feedbackWish I could comment on the actual food, but never got a chance. Attempted to patronize this place on three separate occasions for Lunch. Went the first time on a Monday not realizing they are only open Tues Sunday as indicated on their website. No biggie, I'll come back another time... Tried again on a Tuesday and the place was closed for some reason.. Tried again today (Tuesday) and they are closed again. Needless to say, I won't be coming back again.
For being a small corner restaurant, this is one of the friendliest environments and best meals I've had in Baltimore. First time trying Peruvian food and I loved it and the excellent service.
Andina was recommended by a friend and it's a small business located in downtown and just a 10 minute walk from Mt. Vernon. I visited along with a small group of people on a weekday before noon. I ordered an Old Bay shrimp empanada and it was made fresh to order. The empanada had decent filling, and the shrimp, potato, and cheese worked well with the crunchy shell. At just over $4 including tax, it was pretty affordable. If you're in the downtown area and are looking for a hearty snack or meal, this is a great hole in the wall to check out!
5 stars for sure! No doubt or second visit needed to make that call. Thus far, Andina's has been the best empanadas I've had in Baltimore. The are freshly made to order. Served pippin's hot. Wait a few minutes before diving in to reserve the roof of your mouth.I ordered 2. I tried the Traditional #1, which is steak, caramelized onions, olives and raisins, and a touch of powdered sugar. I also tried the Camaron #9, which is Shrimp, old bay, bacon, caramelized onion, potato, mozzarella cheese, jalapeño. They were served with 3 dipping sauces. I wasn't told what the sauces were when I received them. I tried them all but didn't need any because of the empanadas were so dern good!I absolutely loved them both!! The crust was so buttery and flaky. The empanadas were so evenly filled. Try Andina. You won't be disappointed!
Andina has such a cute vibe! It's nicely decorated with accents throughout the space and very clean. They even have a doogie treat section for all of the hound lovers. There is a small outdoor seating section for nice days. I'm so glad they have survived the pandemic that unfortunately has affected so many of the restaurants downtown. Please call/check their website before you go to confirm that they are open. The empandanas are delicious 1 Tradicional, 2 AnticucheraI, Camaron 9). I have been here a few times during lunch and yesterday I tried the Alfajores cookies. Now you only get one, so you may need to order more! They are light and so sweet! Next time I will try the bowls and smoothies/juices.
