Attman's is a Baltimore landmark, serving up sandwiches from the same location for over 100 years which canbe seen in this time capsule deli. The neighborhood surrounding the store has dramatically changed over the years, leaving it ina less than desirable part of town, but it's well worth the pilgrimage. Silver lining to the area is that parking is mostly freeand easily obtained. The old-school interior of the deli includes a counter that spans almost the entire length of therestaurant with the menu clearly laid out on the wall behind it. In the adjacent space to the left of the counter is a largedining room, complete with autographed pictures of celebrities who have patronized Attman's over the years. The ordering systemis pretty simple, you stand in line at the counter until a staff member takes your order, you pay at the register near the doorand then you can either dine in or take it to go. Be warned, during peak lunch hours this place gets super crowded, withsometimes a line wrapping around the block. However, the staff is efficient at what they do and can get through a long line inno time. Service: 5/5: During our visit for Sunday lunch, the entire staff at Attman's was not only welcoming, but proficientat getting us our delicious meal in a timely manner. Upon entering the deli at 1:30pm, the line had queued all the way to theback of the restaurant. To our surprise, the staff was able to move through the line in less than 10 minutes. Then once ourorder was taken, it only took another 10 minutes until we were chowing down. This is the kind of turn around time you come toexpect from a tenured deli at lunch rush. Food: 5/5. There's a reason Attman's has been slinging sandwiches since 1915, theunrivaled portions and taste. During our visit, we decided to get the Attman's Specialty Reuben, Nosh On Rye, 2
Very good deli. Drove more than an hour to try it, and it was worth it. Good taste, huge amount of meat at a reasonable price, and friendly service to boot, what more could you ask for from a deli? Would definitely be back and recommend.
I 've been going to Altman 's Deli for years, twice a year is the most. My lean corned beef sandwich wasn 't what it used to be as far as actual meat weight on the sandwich. I was hungry so I ate it and the flavor was as it is supposed to be really( good!
The food is phenomenal! I got the shrimp salad, my husband got the chicken salad, and we got a corn beef on rye for a friend. Our plans with our friend fell through, so hubby and I split the corn beef. It was so tender, it melts in your mouth. Theemployees are super friendly and outgoing. The guy who made our sandwiches chatted with us the whole time. He also let us sampleanything we wanted.
Definitely one of the best Deli's I have been to, and believe this to be the best in Baltimore. The pastrami sandwich is delicious and leaves you with a feeling for wanting to come back. The portion size is copious for the price you pay. Definitelyrecommend.
