The falafel comes as a platter with falafel balls, wonderfully flavored rice, hummus, salad with dressing and naan. Lamb shishkab had chunks of lamb and similar platter without hummus. All was nicely spiced without being spicey hot. You order at the counter but food is brought to you when ready. We also had appetizers of samosas and baba ghanoush. Portions were good sized and not overpriced. Atmosphere is comfortable but utilitarian.
Maiwand Grill is around the block from the Everyman Theater. It's convenient for a pre or post theater meal. It's clean and neat. The tables are numbered. You go to the counter to order and tell the clerk your table number. A server brings you your meal when it's ready. The food is very good. I had lamb chops, and my wife had pumpkin salad. I deleted one star because of very slow service even though the place was quite empty when we arrived. Other theater patrons who came in after us were served before us. In spite of that serve error, I definitely recommend the Maiwand Grill
This place is a convenient distance from the convention center and hotels. The portions are big and the food is good. Everything was a tad spicy, which we didn't mind. The one thing I found annoying was there are two doors, but the one everyone was walking up to (including ourselves) was locked and the windows are tinted, so it appears to be closed. I wish staff would just put a sign on the door to use the other door. Small annoyance for an otherwise pleasant meal and restaurant!
Delicious! The inside is visually pleasing and spacious. The people that work there were very helpful and warm. The food is always HOT and very delicious. The rice is my fave! I also always get the falafel platter which is always so fresh and delicious! My partner got the salmon platter that was a 5/5.
Definitely my favorite restaurant in Baltimore, the food is beyond excellent. I drive half an hour each way just to pick it up!
