It was pretty good for the most part. Very filling. No meat substitute just refried beans inside tacos and enchiladas. Personally it gave me the runs the next day. Probably won’t be coming back. Paid 650 for the platter w/ vegan cheese and a beer excluding tip.
Veg options are clearly marked on the menu. The portions are big, we were really full from just one dish. The food is good and the atmosphere is fun. You can even wear a sombrero and a poncho if you feel like doing so! Their chili sauces were a bit disappointing though..
Charley Brown’s Mexicana is one of my favourite restaurants in Bangkok. I’ve been a regular since 2014 and I’ve celebrated my birthday there on two occasions. The owner Dave is very friendly and accommodating, and Chef Primo is fantastic. There are many menu options marked with a V, which means they’re either vegetarian or can be made vegetarian or vegan upon request. The guacamole is delicious (ask for it without dairy if you’re vegan) and the vegan cheese is some of the tastiest I’ve tried in any Bangkok restaurant perfect in quesadillas! And while you’re there, don’t miss the passion fruit margaritas!
Very expensive for Bangkok (even Mexican food). Expect 300-450 Bhat for a small main course..! Food options for vegetarians are too simply remove the meat... you don’t really get a replacement protein /flavor source. Vegan cheese is overpriced
