I love the chicken Milanese from a few years ago but the last three times I have ordered it at The Cottage the chicken/arugula was drowned in dressing and the chicken was very oily. My dining partner always loved the fish tacos but the ones last night were not well prepared. The tortillas were so wet that they could not be picked up. On the positive side our server was excellent, service was prompt and luckily we were able to sit on the patio avoiding the very noisy inside dining room. This is such a neighborhood favorite but I fear that we will not choose it in the future if the chef and helpers do not up their game.
The patio dining was very nice. The cod cakes were very good, but the street corn was overdone with too much sour cream, and the eggplant fries were too soggy. The quinoa salad was ample and tasty. I would come back again to try some different items. The atmosphere was really nice and the service was attentive.
Went for birthday dinner. Disappointed. Burgers. Steak and lobster roll were just okay. Service wasn't great. Had to remind waiter we wanted to order dinner. Forgot our drinks. Restaurant wasn't busy but our party of 5 was squished into booth with table on end. Summertime in Wellesley. Business is slow and it shows. :
Always a delicious meal. Super consistent restaurant. Very busy as always for lunch. Great burgers. Avocado with chicken salad a huge favorite of ours. Tried the sliced steak sandwich and it was decent, not amazing. They recently changed the menu and added a ton of great sounding stuff. Fried oysters A
I have eaten at the Cottage many times and the food has been delicious, but it was a disappointment this time. We arrived for an early Sunday brunch. We received a warm welcome from the hostess and our waiter. Our waiter was great, tentative, and efficient but the kitchen was not on its A-game. We ordered the Cottage Benedict, English muffin, with prosciutto, spinach, poached eggs, hollandaise, home fries, but substituted fresh fruit for the home fries. The English muffin was over-toasted and hard. The eggs were perfect but there was only a DIME size of hollandaise sauce on each egg. I am not someone to complain or send something back to the kitchen but I should have. You can't chalk it up to a busy kitchen. There were only 4 of us in the restaurant!!
