Unfortunately, the service is somewhat inattentive, so it took forever until we could order. No one came to pick up another order. But because of the location and taste, you can go.
The Schlossgfängnis is idyllicly located directly at the Rantzauer See in Barmstedt. The small castle island with its historic buildings was formerly the official and residence of the county of Rantzau. Here on the castle island court was held in the courthouse. The small castle prison was really used as a prison and today you can still see the cell structure in the building. In the upper part of the building, pictures are exhibited by local artists, but mainly by the owner Freddy Rode himself. A visit is definitely worth it. In the summer you can sneak homemade cakes in the beer garden. A special hightlight is the so-called prison meal. Here the dishes are served and presented in an original manner by the owner. So who is looking for a nice Sunday walk is right here. Whoever a walk around the Rantzauer lake is not enough to stretch the trail in the nearby forest.
The Cafe Castle Prison is always worth a visit! Excellent cakes, loving service, always something to look. Great is the ingenious service around steadfast weddings, which are also offered here! Sunday there is a brilliant brunch from 10.00 to 13.00, which is really incomparably good! But without reservation, it is really lucky to have a place to settle. Even in the case of not so great weather, you can keep it on the loving terasses thanks to a huge sun-sail, because the terass spotlights are not only ornaments, but are also switched on in contrast to other locations! Always happy!!
This cafe has to be experienced, an old built house with corners and edges. Here you feel a hundred years behind, to see beautiful old pieces and newer art and magnificent cakes. On Sundays it is mostly too full.
Due to the article in the weekend edition of the Hamburger Abendblatt, I went to Afternoon Tea today with a friend who was warmly advertised in the newspaper. Starting from a dirty tea cup (on friendly request after another cup came from the service: what should be with the cup? , serve a false tea, no tea trays (only on request, a totally dirty milk box inside, which is on my side, in the words: this does not happen for the first time, I think it is on the dishwasher. The visit was rather to reconcile. Unfortunately, even the well-stocked floors with the many sweet and salty offers could not make up for that anymore. In addition, annoying, but in no case burdening the gastronomy, are elderly ladies who then bathe in Parfum and thus contribute to losing cakes, sandwiches and tea their own taste. Conclusion: No place I would visit again. Unfortunately, because the surroundings and the local are more than worth seeing.
