Over time, the quality of food and service at this place has been slowly going down. The last experience was generally below average. The service was pretty slow, and we had to repeatedly ask for extra tea, ginger, wasabi and sauce. Some fish in some rolls (salmon?) smelled a bit funny. The food is generally ok, some rolls are better than others. Probably, we should find another sushi spot in Barrie.
Good value for all you can eat. Lots to choose from even if you don't like raw fish. There is plenty of other things to try. Tempura, soups, cooked seafood and fish. It is great to go with a group so you can try lots of dishes. They are small so you can order several of them.
I've given Aji Sai a couple of tries. Each time I've gone I get ok or below average food and I can guarantee to receive below average service. The management should offer a course on customer service and maybe smiling. I'm not sure why it is so hard for any of the staff to look like they enjoy their job. All you can eat sushi is quite common now. I believe this place was the first in Barrie. I've probably gone there 5 times and each time I always get the same vibe.
I haven't been a fan of this place for a few years, but my boyfriend and I were craving sushi so we decided to give it a shot. The service is very slow and the food is nothing to write home about. The server couldn't understand my boyfriend's request for a rye and ginger, so he settled for water instead. The women's washroom is disgusting - it looked like there were leaks in the ceiling and it hadn't been cleaned in 24 hours +. After a first round of sushi/apps we ordered a second round but left to catch our movie since it had taken over 30 mins! Best part... my stomach is upset now! If you're craving sushi in the north end of Barrie do yourself a favour and go to Akira on Mulcaster... or even Loblaws since you'll be more likely to get your money's worth!
Meal was very good, if you are pressed for time this isn't the place to go. Everything is made as you order it so it takes a while. Well worth the wait though. Pricing is reasonable but wasting food is not accepted, so if you want to try something new make sure it's a single portion or other people at your table want it as well otherwise you are charged for the items you wasted. We had know problem eating everything we ordered.
