It is recommended that the council install an information board to educate visitors about this historical event.
We visited this unique and special restaurant on the quietest month of the year in Barrow, a quirky island. The staff welcomed us warmly on a peaceful evening for dinner and drinks, offering a selection of local cask ales and keg-dispensed beers brewed on site. The menu featured a variety of freshly prepared meals that were generous in portion size, high in quality, and great value. The restaurant has a south-facing terrace overlooking Walney Channel and Piel island, which would be perfect on a sunny day. We highly recommend this dining experience.
I made a reservation for a Sunday roast at the Roa Island Boat Club, and I was fortunate to secure a table as the club is always busy due to its reputation as a fantastic dining venue. Upon arrival with my friend, we were greeted by a friendly lady at the bar with a warm smile. My friend had forgotten his mask, but he was given a complimentary one (masks are only required in the bar area). We ordered the Beef roast and Pork roast, which were promptly served to us. The meat was delicious, accompanied by vegetables, Yorkshire puddings, and apple mustard sauces. There is an option to upgrade to a larger portion for an extra £1.00, but it is not necessary as the regular portion size is already ample. We indulged in a Crumble and Orange sponge for dessert, making for a satisfying and reasonably priced dining experience that exceeded our expectations.
The food at the boat club is outstanding and Fantastic value for money. Portion sizes are huge and the quality is excellent. Staff are very friendly and the location is a hidden gem.
Go to the Roa Island Boating Club for food and drinks. It's an oldy worldy gaff which welcomes non members. You can smell the diesel and seaweed. No frills, but a great terrace to sit out on and watch the ships going in and out of Barrow. Really friendly staff.
