A little known fact is that the owners continue to buy from other local companies that have closed their doors to customers (as they cannot keep a profit), but the diary Freez supports them in...the small way they can buy and produce products like milk to use in their active restaurant. This place is also an active and ingenious employer of local teenagers. A big example of a small city business that supports others. Huge fan.
We were in Barry’s Bay today and were looking for a place for lunch when the sky opened and it rained. There were 9 of us on 6 Spyders, who were huddled under the overhang of the Dairy Freez store when this very friendly gentle gentleman offered to let us come in and wait in his restaurant. He explained the effects of Covid 19 on the restaurant business in the city and then made us serve other customers. When the rain went up, we went out to dry our bikes and he came with a dry towel to offer us. A very nice gesture of strangers in town and very appreciated.
Very generous blades of Kawartha milk ice cream. Many varieties to choose from. Very fast service, despite a long setup.
Yoi get what you see. A 50's style fast food type diner. Homemade burgers, fries and ice cream. Service wasn't particularly fast but there is a patio to sit while you wait and the food is good quality for what it is
We shared the supreme burger and 4pc chicken fingers fries. These were good. The burger had toppings above the regular like banana peppers, pickles, and fresh(! lettuce. The chicken fingers were smaller but well crispy with flavour, good on their own or with the...4 choices of dipping sauces. We also had an ice cream cone and a frozen yogurt. The ice cream portion was generous and the fro-yo had tiny bits of real fruit, mmmm. Would go there again.
