A/C and refrigerator actually worked well. there is a beautiful pool area and a grill if you have a family and want to eat in. also many seats in the open.
We stayed here late May, 2022. It was a hot day and the AC was not working. We waited 1.5 hours for the room to cool down, but it was not happening. The front desk sent for maintenance and he insisted the AC was working, contrary to the room temperature. We were later switched to a different room.
I would highly suggest avoiding this place. Rooms smell off, water roaches come out of the sink, bedding is VERY uncomfortable. Staff was nice enough. Maybe one night there is okay if you're just traveling through. Multiple nights are definitely out of the question.
I used this hotel as a base for touring Death Valley National Park and Joshua Tree National Park. I also took a day trip to San Diego. The location is perfect for this. I had previously been to Las Vegas, otherwise I could have made a day trip there as well. I found this hotel to be very quiet. It was safe and it was comfortable. The staff was good and the pool was excellent. The breakfast was the only thing I wouldn't give 5 stars but it was acceptable for breakfast at this type of hotel. If I am in the area again, I would stay again in a heartbeat.
The hotel was excellent value for money; couldn't really be bettered. Barstow while on Route 66 is a strange place as it's apparently in an economic dip. However, this Inn and the Mexican restaurant were we had dinner at, were very welcoming. This hotel was perfect for an over-nighter' during a road trip! The room was reasonably sized if a little tired but hey it wasn't expensive. There was a swimming pool that we didn't use, and the parking was free, near our room, and appeared to be fairly secure. The self service breakfast was good and you could eat as much as you wanted. Other guests were friendly and the staff on duty helpful. Bearing in mind the cost of our stay we really couldn't suggest that anything could be better. If there was anything the rooms could have benefitted from a bit of a make over as our room could be described as 1960/70s shabby chic.
