Duke Of York - Basildon

So, after visiting a bunch of average, and not even all that average, pubs it was actually pretty cool to encounter a pub that had some character.

Great place to stop in for a beer after work or after shopping on Oxford St.

Very nice modern pub in Billericay. Tasty food, varied menu polite friendly service. Great mid week deals too!

THE food here is really nice cannot fault it at all but the service and time we had to wait for it was ridiculous 5.30 table booked well in advance was seated until near on 6 due to table not being ready once was seated and finally had our order taken it took over an hour for it to arrive so not eating until gone 7 when booked at 5.30 is not really on!!! We then had dessert which was beautiful and paid for the bill as to which the waitress didn't give us our change back and just turned round and said oh did u want your change back? Which was rude in my opinion cause then she kicked us straight of the table as they had another booking!!! I would come back again to try but maybe not a Saturday as the gluten free menu was brilliant for my daughter and she loved it as the food was really nice but if this happened again I wouldn't return for the 3rd time so I advise don't come here if you are in a rush!!!

Four out of my five party members were disappointed with the choice of food for lunchtime. I had eaten at the Duke of York in the evening a couple of times before and was pleased with the choice. I recommended it to my friends and I am sorry to say all but one were disappointed. We are unlikely to visit again.
