For starters, we ordered the 3 tapas. The two whitebait were enjoyable, but my order of potted shrimps came disguised as battered prawns - which I didn't mind as I like them. For our main dishes, my wife ordered turkey escalope with chestnut couscous cake, but the waiter informed us they were out of turkey and offered chicken instead, which we accepted. Then, he said they were out of couscous and offered rice and vegetables instead, to which we also agreed. I ordered the tenderloin of pork, but it was not tenderloin, with Dauphinoise potatoes served as a layered cube and a mustard sauce that was yellow. Did we leave a tip?
I was searching for a breakfast spot in Basingstoke at 8 am, and it seems like this was the only place serving breakfast so early in the morning! The breakfast was fantastic, but the highlight of my experience was being served by Elia. She was an amazing woman, very polite and dedicated to her job, willing to go above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction with the meal. I was incredibly impressed with her and even managed to note her name from her badge. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice breakfast and the pleasure of being served by Elia. If the hotel management reads this, they should definitely give her a commendation. Additionally, the value for money at 8.5 for a buffet breakfast with options like omelettes, poached and scrambled eggs, tea, coffee, and juices is unbeatable. A must-visit!
