Afternoon Tea @1449 Restaurant, Bar Grill Crowne Plaza

We came and they had not our booking, I showed them the confirmation email and the dame said they would only do the festive tee, so she went and asked the cook or someone if we could have it for the same price. we have. when the food arrived, the tee was cold, and didn't think much about the tee at all, had much better disappointed.

Very excited, with my friend for afternoon tee (1st time without children for ever) nice hotel welcome to go. the afternoon was very moderate. cheap lunch. when we wanted to pay, they tried to ask us to pay the full price, but I explained I booked in advance and that was quickly corrected. even if we needed more tee, there was no one around, but to the luck found someone who just added more boiling water.

Very nice eating, good fast service. had not made our booking out of any reason, but quickly put together a table for us. great!

Myself and my friend went for Afternoon tea at the Crowne Plaza Basingstoke on Sunday 29th September. We walked into the hotel which i have not been too since it has become the Crowne Plaza and has been refurbished. The hotel itself was stylish and smart and looks a lot better inside than out. First impressions of the service wasnt great the reason being is when i went to check in they had no booking under my name even though i had email confirmation of the date and time of my booking, they said that it wasnt put in their diary so organisation could be a bit better. Luckily as the restaurant was completely empty they managed to squeeze us in!! I would like to know what they would of done if they were fully booked on that day would they have turned us away? I'm hoping not as it was a mistake made on their part and not mine. After that drama was over we had a very pleasant Afternoon tea with Prosecco- it was definitely worth the money. This is not the hotels fault but i would of liked a few more people to have been around to create an atmosphere as it was just myself and my friend in a room by ourself.

Beautiful afternoon. the first time is here since it was renovated and it looks good. will be great in summer. good price and serving. in any case worth a visit.
