The Hampshire Court - Basingstoke

The restaurant is extremely expensive and offers limited options. We were under the impression that a meal was included in our package with a value of £28, but the main course alone cost up to £26. Additionally, the restaurant replaced both the pasta filling and salad ingredients with different options. The wine glass had fingerprints on it and the cutlery seemed more appropriate for a canteen rather than a fine dining establishment, especially considering the high prices. We will not be returning.

Booked a table at 6:00 as there was nothing else available otherwise until 9:00. Imagine our surprise when we arrived to find only one other table occupied. There was no music and given we were the only two tables seated for our first our first hour it was a little two quiet needed a little more atmosphere. Restaurant was very smart and clean, young waiting staff very polite and keen to please. We were checked on regularly during our meal. Reasonable number of choices available. Starter of focaccia excellent. Burger mains good and large though beef burger was over cooked on the outside and under on the inside flavour was nice. Chocolate tart and sticky toffee pudding both good. Chocolate tart appeared without ice cream despite being listed on the menu but when relayed this to staff this was bought out very quickly. Wine list extensive and good value. Overall a decent meal with lovely staff just needed more atmosphere.

The service ar the restaurant started off ok, but instead of taking our order of dessert we waited in excess of 20 minutes before deciding not to bother and left. Paid for beforehand) Manager arranged for dessert to be delivered to our room. Eat this 40 minute later than we wanted. But at least we got it eventually Shame as experience should and could have been better

Worse than yesterday.!!!Waited an hour for our starter. Main course was apalling and DANGEROUS. The prawns on my wife’s fish pie were not cooked and had to be returned. The only alternative offered was a fish finger sandwich, with cheap fish fingers, FOR DINNER!!! The mange tou on both of our plates were inedible and most of my pork belly was uneaten because it was too tough. We received our pudding TWO HOURS AFTER SITTING DOWN. We were not told before our arrival that the restaurant was closed and that it was only a limited bar menu on offer in a small meeting room,with much of that unavailable. Both dinners have been dreadful THIS IS NOT WHAT WE PAID FOR I hope someone will contact me if these two reviews are to be at all meaningful

An experience not to be repeated. We were only given one limited expensive menu, on which one dish was unavailable. When our main course arrived, it did not have the listed accompaniment and when requesting this we were told by a very abrupt waitress that we could have ketchup or mayonnaise instead.. Later when we requested a dessert we were offered a second menu offering many options for starters, main courses and desserts.
