Really stunning in every way. Associated with the Upper Reach winery and set in the most beautiful place on the river. Huge river red gums, vines turning Autumn colours, birds and peace and quiet surround you. And the food is a real treat. We had Arancini and the chicken salad. That may sound quite ordinary however the tastes were incredible - stunning food. Excellent espresso coffee to finish. We could have moved in!!!! Lovely service and a most attractive space.
As host, I really wanted to enjoy my lunch with visiting overseas siblings and partners, after visiting the wonderful winery next door. Seated on the lovely veranda, I couldn't help thinking that the tables needed a cloth as they aren't the type that look good undressed. We ordered two Indian platters and a fish dish for 5 of us. Whilst one of my siblings enjoyed the fish dish immensely, the four of us sharing the Indian platters felt that there wasn't enough food and at least that there should have been more Indian bread and some rice. We also didn't get a poppadom as seen in some photos. On the whole the food was tasty but very portion controlled and rather expensive for the price of $60+
We were among only 2 other people as we decided on an early lunch. Im telling this because you would think service would be better before the excuse of busy.Service was poor. It took 15 mins to be asked for our order.Mushroom arrancini was amazing, turkish bread didn't work with just feta and olives. The staff dropped the feta on delivery and 10mins later i had to ask for it. Quesadilla was bland, some coriander may have given it some finesse. We had to ask for salt and pepper, 5 mins later it turns up.Setting is like all else to be expected in the valley. As the restaurant is leased separately to the winery the wines are severely marked up to the cellar tasting, very disappointing in the valley.
We visited this winery for lunch. Pre lunch wine-tasting, only to discover this winery has a first class range. Totally enjoyed a bottle over lunch (indian tapas). The vista looking over vineyards and the verandah sporting an old well established vine whisks you away from the city. Absolutely beautiful food. The chef understands indian food very well-nailed it! Enough for two and quite full after. Off now to stay at the cottage on the property. What can i say, excellent value!
