For main course I had the pie with chips and mushy peas, the pie pastry was slightly dry however was filled to the brim with tender tasty meat. Nice homemade chips and well seasoned, mushy peas slightly disappointing tasted as they were from a tin. The stuffed chicken also looked nice and very well presented. The birra moretti was a good pint, however £3 for a small Diet Coke very pricey in my opinion. All in all great little village pub on the out skirts of retford, will be back soon!
The owners of this pub used to work at the Sun Inn, not to be confused with the Old Sun, in Retford. They are truly missed. Even though it's a ten minute drive to Arkham for us, it's well worth it. The food is delicious, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. We can't wait to go back in the winter and hopefully enjoy the real fires burning. This is definitely our favorite place to eat.
The best pub we've been to in a long time! The food was better than most restaurants and the service was second to none. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Thank you, we will be back!
Stopped here for lunch on a drive from Northumberland to Suffolk. They had good COVID measures throughout. The food was good, I had the burger which was delicious and my husband had the fish pie. There was a good selection to choose from as well as the Sunday Lunch roast options. They had a very clever high chair for our son which allowed him to sit at the table.
Hubby and I have just returned from a wonderful lunch at this beautiful old village pub. We were made so welcome and loved the old beams ,cosy atmosphere as well as the really good food. Started with homemade soup to die for, Chowder for hubby, Tomato for me with lovely warm crusty rolls and butter. Mushroom Tagliatelli with a colourful side salad ,Liver and bacon with creamy mash. Followed by a velvet smooth vanilla pannacotta and rhubarb.Washed down with a super bottle of Merlot , what could be nicer! Many thanks to the chef and Glen who looked after us ,You can be sure we will be back soon! Beautiful old place a real find!
