I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and thought it was probably a bad idea, because chicken breast tends to be dry compared to others share right. not here, buddy, that huh was so moist, juicy and tasteful I couldn't believe it. I came back the next day and had to run it back. probably the best chicken pest sammy I've ever had. decent size, I was full and satisfied. I also had the Italian salate, it was good, but the sandwich was the show stopper.
The egg salad sandwich I enjoyed yesterday was the best egg salad I've had in decades. Lots of tasty egg salad on the sandwich so it's not something you want to try to eat while driving. The folks at The Painted Porch bookstore recommended Base Camp Deli as a good place for lunch and they were absolutely right. Thank you!
I 'm sure the sandwiches are great here. I love Cuban sandwiches and I was ecstatic when I saw they had one on the menu. I 've had throughout the Cuban restaurants in New York and the Little Havana neighborhood in Miami. I have a weird request: hold the pickles. The only time anyone has any issue with this request is when the pickles are chopped into the meat mix. Which is no problem. I suck it up and eat the pickles. I asked for the Cubano here and to my surprise I received the following answer: We don 't do modifications on that item I laughed at the response but the woman working the counter confirmed that it was indeed not a joke. I asked more earnestly and was informed that I could modify any item but the cubano and told me: Without pickles it 's not a Cubano Seems very pretentious and perhaps appropriative for this sandwich shack to declare themselves an authority on what a Cubano is. Maybe I missed a Michelin star somewhere.
The Turkey Havarti was officially my first meal in my new house and my first sandwich at Basecamp! I love a sandwich and they did not disappoint! Everything was so fresh and the portions are very generous. Service was friendly and prompt. I'll most certainly be a repeat customer!
Visited downtown Bastrop on April 12. We stopped for lunch at Base Camp Deli and I got the Turkey Reuben and my wife got the Turkey Havarti. Her Turkey Havarti sandwich was awesome but my Turkey Reuben was terrible. We sampled each other's sandwiches and we both agreed. Worth mentioning were the really tasty thick cut kettle cooked Deep River potato chips. The people were friendly and the service was good.
