The Gas Station - Bastrop

I visited in the summer of 2020, and as a fan, it was definitely worth the drive. The place has a cool atmosphere with plenty of amazing collectibles. I wasn't brave enough to dine indoors given the circumstances at that time, but there was ample outdoor seating available. Many customers around me were raving about how good the food was. I’ll definitely return soon to try some for myself.

I really love that there's a gift shop as soon as you walk into the place! They also have cabins available for overnight stays, and the food is simply amazing! I ordered the chopped beef sandwich, and the meat was cooked to perfection, especially with their ghost pepper barbecue sauce. It's outdoor seating only, but thankfully the weather was beautiful!

As a native Texan, I can confidently say this is a must-visit place. We arrived during a time when they were not open, but we didn't encounter any problems. We respectfully went to the back to take some photos and left everything just as we found it. The owner noticed us, and we greeted him right away. He was very friendly and waved to let us know there was no issue. Thank you for that! It’s a fantastic spot for photos and a wonderful memory that we will cherish forever.

Definitely a place worth visiting if you are a horror fan, or even if you aren't! The BBQ was delicious. I got a brisket sandwich and chips that was amazing. I ate it before I thought about taking a picture because it smelled so good. There is anice little back area to eat at some picnic style tables. We saw a few cats wandering around the property. Lots of moviememorabilia and the gift shop had stuff from not only The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but other horror movies as well. I could'vebought the whole gift shop if I could've afforded it! Would definitely recommend checking it out! We went from Louisiana just tosee it and it was worth it! We almost made it on the same day the movie took place, but missed it by a day. That was a completeaccident though! Still pretty awesome!

I can't wait to return! I only tried the pecan pie, but it was fantastic. The staff was friendly, and there was a cute cat to pet. If you're a fan of the movie, this place is a must-visit!
