Haven 't tried their other offerings, but we intend to. As a local I 've experienced a number of disappointing experiences in takeaways over the years, and it 's kind of embarrassing when you know our tourists are getting the same experience....but I 'd recommend this place. Ocean Breeze is going to give fish and chips a whole new reputation in the Bay so, tourists give it a try......... (and no I 'm not on the payroll.
I don’t expect to be served flake on the south coast. I could have had flake fish cocktails in Canberra. Very disappointing.
The fish cocktails were incredibly fresh and cooked perfectly crispy. They weren't greasy or oily, and the chips were excellent too - crunchy and not greasy.
We had been excited to visit Berny's, the fish shop next door, which has always impressed us. Unfortunately, they were closed, so we decided to give this place a try. However, we were disappointed. The fish didn't taste fresh at all. We ordered grenadier and flathead for comparison, but neither tasted like it had been recently caught. I was grateful I chose the flathead, as I don't think I could have eaten the grenadier my wife ordered (she has a broader fish palette than I do). The chips were not nearly as good as the ones from Berny's and required a lot of tartare sauce to make them enjoyable.
My husband and I had the Family pack 1, which included Blue Grenadier fillets calamari rings,Prawn cutlets chips. We also grabbed some potato scallops...Oh my, it was all to die for. The potato scallops were out of this world..Can highly recommend grabbing fish chips from here.
