Today we had two steak and caramelized onions and a sausage roll and a steak and mushroom cake. They were delicious and tasty, how well old-fashioned baking should be, not mass-tested impersonations of what a cake was earlier. I love it, a...bit out of the way, but worth the hunt!
Simply delicious! The aroma of freshly baked goods is worth the visit on its own. You won't want to leave once you try the wide variety of options. I ended up purchasing three items and devoured them all, including the Vegemite Cheese Toast. AJ is a delight - friendly and playful. A must-visit whenever I'm in Batemans Bay.
Two years ago we started to find the best Custard tarts in Australia. We have literally visited hundreds, perhaps over a thousand bakeries from the big capital cities to individual pub centres across the eastern side of Australia and below the WA... also. So, Broome etc. can be even better, but it's an L O N G way to go for a Custard tar. But at the end of the day, AJ's won on an independent panel of 8 judges, from a milliwhisker from Braidwood. Great workers. Who is in NSW gets your Custatrd dreams here. I wonder if they send them?
The friendly service and great pies and breads are the best around. Easy to find with parking out the front.
