The Veganuary Pie was terrible, with watery mushrooms in gravy and a sweet potato mash coating. The sweet potato starter was just a baked sweet potato with a small cream sauce, half-grilled bok choy, and a pakora. The fish and chips were good, but when we asked about rosé wine options, we were told there were only two choices. We decided on the Provençal rosé, but were shocked when the bill came and it was £34! We all felt that the prices were way too high for a pub.
My friend and I had lunch at this restaurant during the week and we had a great time. The service was friendly and helpful, and we sat by a window enjoying a delicious meal. The only minor criticism we had was that the meat portions were quite large; however, we felt there could have been more variety in the menu.
The Sunday roast we had was very tasty, with beef as the main course. The seasoning was good, but the roast potatoes were slightly soggy and could have been crispier. We also ordered the mushroom cobbler with a pea shoot salad, which was extremely tasty. It was also a great choice for those watching their calories. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dining experience.
Great pub with delicious Sunday roasts. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. And dogs are welcome, too.
Very nice Sunday Roast for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike.
