The drinks were great, with a variety of options (unlike many places that only offer cheap, unknown lagers; I enjoyed a Peroni). The food, especially the beef, was excellent and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The gravy was delicious and plentiful. The service was top-notch and the bill was less than anticipated. We will definitely be returning soon.
We stumbled across this gem of a pub while camping in the area. It’s off the beaten track in a small village. We were greeted by a cheerful guy behind the bar, he was helpful and made us feel very welcome, the young lady who served us was also lovely, she ensured we had all we wanted and checked on us a couple of times. The food is out of this world! Excellent pub grub with a few twists, I had the “Mother Clucker” and my wife had the best fish and chips she’s ever had! The kids loved their menu, it’s quite cleverly written, offers loads of options including vegetarian and healthy choices as well as the usuals. A vegan friend was pleasantly surprised with the choice, no vegan burgers in sight!! she settled on the Veganic wrap, which she loved! Outside there is a great kids play area which kept the kids entertained for a good while, dogs are welcome in the pub and on the patio, but not in the play area, which is a great idea, we know the the kids are able to run around without liking out for poo! If you are looking for a chilled family/ dog friendly pub with great food and fabulous staff, then this is the place to visit!
I really enjoy this pub - the atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and the owners are lovely and welcoming.
I went to the pub yesterday for an outdoor dinner and a beer, and it was fantastic. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The New Yorker burger was one of the best burgers we've ever had. We are fortunate to have such a lovely neighborhood spot.
What a little gem of a place hidden the beautiful chew valley near the iconic waldegrave estate. The pub has so much character, old, well kept loads of history and from a snug chair to a bar stool there is an area for everyone. We had Sunday lunch and wow it didn’t disappoint! Loads of food and all homemade and the service was fab. If you can leave enough room for a desert… they are amazing! The grandchildren played in the garden which has a large slide and climbing area. It was great as there are no dogs allowed in the garden area so we know there wouldn’t be any random poo around, although dogs are loved and looked after here with fresh water and shade in the walled garden area. Will definitely be back! We want to try their new weekly menu. Well done guys!
