It reminds me so much of Lebanon. When my parents visited Bath, I took them to Comptoir. My Dad, who used to fly in and out of Beirut and eat there all the time, was very impressed by the food. This is a fantastic endorsement for the delicious taste of authentic Lebanese cuisine. We are lucky to live nearby and can enjoy dining there regularly. The staff is excellent and the restaurant is always fresh, clean, and lively. As soon as you walk in, you are welcomed with a warm greeting and a vibrant ambiance that transports you to a different world. I highly recommend trying Comptoir - you won't be disappointed.
The restaurant did not meet the usual standards we have experienced at other locations of this chain, such as in Oxford and London, where the service and food were exceptional.
The staff were highly attentive and the meal was delightful, especially the mixed grill. The restaurant was quite empty during a weekday lunchtime, so we moved tables as we were in a noisy area with loud music playing. However, the music was a bit too loud overall. We plan on coming back, as the flatbreads, baba ganoush, and tabouleh starters are a must-try.
The food was absolutely lovely. We ordered the chicken tagine and the mixed grill, which were both delicious. One small thing is that I was disappointed when I ordered the 'fresh orange juice ' from the menu only to receive juice from a carton... the word 'fresh ' should really be removed from the menu unless the restaurant plans to start juicing some oranges right there and then, it 's a bit misleading.
Arrived with email booking. Waitress denied knowledge of booking. Begrudgingly shown to table. Food served before drinks. Had to ask twice again for drinks. Food ok. Service poor
