We had a great time looking around the grounds and reading/listening to all of the history. It took us about 2/3 hours including stopping at the gift shop and cafe so it's a nice place to come if you have some free time. The grounds were immaculate and the staff were very helpful.
Loved this place, the history here is insane and it's really awesome too that they are so dog friendly. So with that said we explored everything, gate house, battlefield and the old Abby. The very special part of this place is you can see where king Harold fell and with that the loss of the English crown.
Great piece of British history, our whole family enjoyed it and learnt new things about the battle of Hastings. The hand held speaker to walk around with is great, it allows you to learn without taking the guided tour, and at your own pace, fast or slow.
Just as they remember from their school trips, but I'd say it's even more enjoyable as an adult! It's a fantastic place to spend an afternoon, whether you go for a short stroll or a longer hike—plus, the shorter route is wheelchair accessible. The staff have put together a wonderful little show that explains the story of the Battle of Hastings; it’s designed for kids, but I loved it too. The best part of this place is that they're more than happy for you to bring your dogs along. They can even join you all the way to the viewpoint! It's a delightful way to spend a day with your furry friends.
