The sun was low in the sky and I desperately wanted to witness the sunset from a vineyard with a glass of wine in my hand. After my friends and I got turned away from Encuentro (should have arrived earlier) and a quick Google search of “wineries near me” we made a phone call to Sol Fortun and were welcomed over. Little did we know that the drive there would be an adventure which took us deep into an offshoot valley and their vineyard. It was beautiful. When we arrived at the winery, we were greeted by giant oak tree, an impressive outdoor dining area, and our host for the evening, Santiago. We were already delighted, and hadn’t even sat down yet. After choosing a table with a view of the vineyard, Santiago brought over the menu board and a portable heater was set up next to us. We ordered individual glasses of Nobel Cru and Cabernet Sauvignon, both great. Originally, we weren’t going to eat, but we couldn’t resist sharing the following: Tartar Atún, Smoked/Grilled Cauliflower, and the Botana de Casa, which was a delicious hot plate of sausage and sliced baguette. Everything was fresh and delicious, and we couldn’t stop exclaiming about how good it all was. Santiago was a friendly host and on point throughout our stay. We can’t wait to return and bring more friends and family.
