Plum's has a great view of the river and is nice when the weather is warm enough to sit outside. The special for the night was a sirloin steak which was pretty good-not great. One of the members of our party is on a very strict diet and the steak arrived smothered in melted butter. Our waiter and the owner could not have been nicer-taking it back to the kitchen and returning with steamed shrimp. The fish tacos and spinach salad were really good, and the service was particularly good since our waiter was new. Good place for oysters and shrimp but not someplace I'd go for a special night out.
The food was good, but the appetizers arrived after the entree.
This was our first visit to Beaufort, SC and we were looking for regional cuisine. We found Plums on the waterfront and enjoyed a very good meal. The food portions were generous, the ingredients fresh, the price was reasonable and service was excellent. If you find yourself in downtown Beaufort, check out Plums.
One of three or four local restaurants we ate at during a weekend stay in Beaufort. We enjoyed a great meal, good service, with good ambience and atmosphere. For appetizer, I had raw oysters on the half-shell, which were delicious; my wife enjoyed the peel-and-eat-shrimp. For dinner entrÃe, my wife and I split the Low Country Boil and the Cornmeal Fried Okra, all of which was good. Honestly, as good as everything was, the best part of the meal, in my opinion, was the fresh biscuits and butter they brought out in advance of our meals. I could have made a meal out of just that!
