Le Grand De L'abbaye - Beaugency

A medieval abbey transformed into a hotel what a great idea! Beautiful location right on the Loire river. Nice, clean rooms, friendly staff. Enjoyed the excellent breakfast with fresh, regional products in the breakfast room overlooking the river. Definitely plan to come back.

We stopped for just one night on our way to Brussels and w're delighted with our experience. A very friendly reception and while the kitchen is currently prion provided us with a very welcome glass of wine and some high-quality snacks to accompany. The location is beautiful, right on the river frontage with the medieval bridge in full view and the beautiful, historic center of Beaugency just steps away. The hotel itself is very atmospheric and really gives one an idea of what monastic life was like in earlier eras. Despite its central location it was very quiet for sleeping at night. Parking is available on site and was free. We'll be back for a longer stay. If you are looking for an antidote to the tired old chain hotels favored by international business travelers, this is it.

Beautiful charming hotel, with an incomparable atmosphere. well decorated rooms, very good bedding. low efficiency heating, no ventilation of the bathroom. very nice restaurant, friendly staff. parking of the limited and exigu hotel.

Hotel very well located at the meung exit on the loire from the highway, in the medieval part of Beaugency, on the edge of the loire with walking or cycling along the river, facing to the island of birds. the atmosphere of the hotel retains the monastic tradition of the place with a traditionally rich setting, the staff is very smiling and welcoming. Breakfast offers fresh food accompanied by products from monasteries (miel, nut cream with small pancakes of the day, organic yeasts etc. The spacious rooms are furnished with wood furniture, the hangings, above bed and welcome pillows are of linen fabric recalling that of the castles, the corridors in red tomettes, the stairways in stone . all is to be discovered with surprise if you want to get out of the hotel chains without soul...bref, I am a accustomed .and my dog recognises it as at home...

An exceptional establishment by its history, its stones, its quality of the rooms (all categories). A hotel museum to visit obligatoryly.
