Absolutely great food, short menu and great choice of open vines. The establishment manages the tables to match the capacity of kitchen and service, leaving free tables. In a very crowded area with nearly 100 people on the evening of our visit asking for a table, this self restraint is testament to the quality approach of the owners. Make a reservation!! Also good service, waiters very friendly creating a nice experience
Good food but incompetent and inflexible service. Yes, it is the high season and yes, we asked whether we could have a salad as a side dish. But we were still waiting for main dishes after half an hour. We actually ended up eating our own crackers while waiting for main dish. Take my advice, go next door to L’Alentour.
Our hotel concierge booked us at 8 Clos based on our desire to have some authentic, local dishes for our first night in Beaune. Then we started reading the Trip Advisor reviews about the awful service and almost bailed. On top of that, we couldn’t find a menu on their website or online, so with the prix fixe menu we were becoming concerned. We decided to take a chance and are glad that we did. As it turns out, the menu changes frequently, which explains the lack of menu info online. The food was excellent: we had the mussels and egg apps, the beef tartare and beef tagliatelle entrees, and the poached cinnamon pears with sorbet for dessert. We had Pinot Noir by the glass which was reasonably priced and excellent. Our server was great until the end; it appeared to be just him and another server who was a bit on the rude side managing all of the tables. When we tried to get our check at the end she said she was getting it and then nothing materialized. Then we asked our server and still nothing yet they were both behind the bar talking and not busy at that time. The third and final request happened to be witnessed by the chef who had come out to sit with the guests next to us, and he proceeded to speak up and tell him to get us our check! Shouldn’t have required such Herculean attempts to just pay our bill especially for a restaurant like this! But I felt compelled to write a review to help balance out all of the negativity we saw online. Definitely need reservations as the restaurant is small and was already fully committed when we arrived at 7:15pm. I would recommend it with the caveat of a bit variable service experience but nothing as bad as what we read in the other reviews.
Delicious escargots and desserts, nice wine list with old good Burgundy wines. Great atmosphère good food, a must visit in Burgundy
