Just passing on a beautiful morning on our way to the Kewenalp gondola and stopped here for a coffee. Sitting outside watching passersby was great, we saw the offer they had on which was a coffee and a sandwich for CHFr 6.90, my husband just could not resist as this price in Switzerland is pretty good. He had a ham sandwich which I did try and the bread was superbly fresh with lovely ham, we were impressed. On looking at the breakfast menu, they offered various ones from around CHFr 8 up to CHFr 24. I feel sure when in the area we will go back to try one of these. Inside the café was very tastefully decorated and offered toilets all on one level useful if you have a problem with stairs.
We were touring Lake Lucerne by boat in the summer, and decided to disembark at Beckenried to have a look around. We were delighted that we stopped at the Christen Beck bakery shop, which has a little café area. It is very good value compared with the other cafés and restaurants in the village, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had a cheese flan which was fantastic. There is a wide choice of sandwiches and other bakery goods, and they have a good range of drinks, including some nice homemade syrups. The café is very clean and well-presented, as are its toilet facilities. We would definitely make a beeline for Christen Beck next time we're in Beckenried.
