Was busy but not all crammed in The menu was great, so much to choose from and many items with a little twist not the same old pub grub. We all chose roast with three meats. The cauliflower cheese was superb (served as an extra portion for two but as it was only me wanting it, the gentleman served me a half sized portion at half the cost). The veg had some sort of buttery coating…delicious I had brixworth pate with bread and apple and other half had home made fried dumplings for starters, as I say, unusual items on menu but really good. Lovely big garden to sit out in the summer but we stayed indoors today as a bit cold. Nice decor, clean and tidy The staff were all very polite and attentive. Very friendly pub and we will definitely return soon.
We were in the area and stopped for lunch we hadn't booked but the gentleman was more than happy to seat us Sunday dinner menu was good we choose a roast beef and fish and chips The standard was great piping hot and home made tastes beautiful Portions were biggg Also followed by sticky toffee pudding Also beautiful Very clean Great staff Village location
Called in for lunch, surprised to see that we were the ONLY people there. Maybe a sign. Just wanted a light lunch and ordered the chilli which was advertised on the bar as a special £7.90. But soon found out, after ordering etc, that the chilli was now a main course £12.90 but for lunch? Accept that we may have misunderstood. Should have stopped there but carried on so lunch for two with a bowl of chilli (definitely, definitely not a main course portion! and a shandy and orange juice £41.00! Unbelievable. Not only that, and maybe more to the point, the special Chilli was not very Chilli like, more a tomato and mince serving with little spices and very few kidney beans. Definitely not that hot mouth warming feel you get from a good Chilli. And nicely decorated with a mountain of very cheap Doritos. So, understand that prices have gone up but £41.00 for 2 x smallish bowl chilli and a couple of drinks! We now know why the pub was empty (admittedly on a Thursday. But we won't be back. Hope for the locals it survives but do have to doubt it.
I visited this restaurant for a drink of Coca-Cola and a plate of fries during a bike ride around the neighborhood. The atmosphere was friendly and the service was excellent. It had a genuine local vibe.
We visited as a family for sunday lunch today and could not have been happier with out decision. We shared a couple of starters, then all opted for the roast dinner. Chicken, lamb and beef were all beautiful, the veg was cooked perfectly (a simple thing so many other places fail to achieve). A side of Cauliflower Cheese added another element of great flavour. Sticky toffee pudding and a serving of White Chocolate and Raspberry cheesecake finished off an amazing meal. Everything tasted amazing, was well cooked/baked and presented beautifully. The pub itself was spotless. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. A real gem of a pub, serving home cooked meals in a great environment. This was our long overdue first visit but we WILL be back again soon.
