Roast Chicken was a little chewing. Rhubarb Ice Cream looked like it was frozen and then frozen again. Carrots were hard and edible.
One of our parties ordered the steak with just under 25 pounds. The quality of the steak was terrible. It was hard and fat, very hard to cut and chew! We were very disappointed that he left the restaurant hungry! We complained and got a free cup of coffee that felt like an insult when you took our bill over £150. It'll take a long time to see you again!
We had a most lovely afternoon tea celebrating my granddaughters 21st birthday. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, and the food was great (even had a doggy bag to take home! lovely views over the River, and it was peaceful and relaxing. To crown it all we were presented with a bottle of bubbly-which was a pleasant surprise! All in all, a great way for the family to spend a couple of hours. Would thoroughly recommend it.
I met a friend for Afternoon Tea at The Barns Hotel and we spent a very pleasant two hours at our table overlooking the terrace and river. The food was lovely except that we could have done with some butter for our French bread, so that the potted meat actually stayed on the bread instead of slipping off. We did have to call over the waiter a few times for clean plates and more tea but that was easily done, as it was so quiet. There was too much for us to eat and so we were provided with lovely little doggies bags to take the left overs home. Our respective husbands enjoyed their little treat when we got home. We will meet there again as it was a lovely treat and we really enjoyed the sandwiches, potted meat, potted vegetables, pork pie scones, cakes and syllabub. Thanks for providing us with a really nice venue to sit and have an unhurried catch-up.
