Lagarto, entrecosto, plumas, abanico are some of the cuts you can find. And don’t forget the tomato salad and the home made fries. Don’t expect luxurious but expect quality. Price range 15-20 euros.
Booked at lunchtime to have 'Choco Frito ' (deep fried cuttlefish) and it was absolutely delicious as promised! The tomato salad and hand cut chips were also very good. Reasonable prices and excellent service. I 'm looking forward to a return visit!
The interior is very simple with uncomfortable chairs. But if you don't mind that, the grilled pork (porco preto grelhado) is among the best you can find accompanied with fresh cut french fries and simple tomato-onion salad. If you like that it is worth the trip to go!
Pork steaks were very good, and you get a platter of pork steaks, platter of fries, tomatoes and onions for under 15 euro's. If you can find it. DeffinAtely worth going. Skipped dessert, too full so have no opinion on desert.
Located in a small village 10 miles away from Beja called Porto Peles, be sure to take a good GPS. This place has an amazing variety of grilled pork meat, ribs, sirloin, and other bits with no translation to English, plumas, abanicos, secretos, lagartos and so on. Do not expect any luxuries, paper towels and hard wood chairs. The staff is friendly and fun. Great tomato salad. Make sure you have your reservation, i was there on a Wednesday evening in march and the house was packed. If you make a reservation the day before you can also order typical Alentejo´s dishes like ensopado de borrego (lamb stew), cozido de grão (pork meat and puddings stew whith chickpeas), and açordas (cod fish, cação or fried pork meat with boiled bread seasoned with herbs).
