Been here once before, both times the food and quality of service have been excellent. The menu is priced very reasonably.
We booked a table in advance for dinner. on arrival we were shown to a table in corner of room facing wall .. it was the only table without a tablecloth.. and table was sticky . not a good start . As we had travelled to get here we were looking forward to dinner and were hungry . however it was not as expected .. we ordered prawn Balls which was 2 prawns wrapped in noodles and deep fried, greasy other starter was chicken wings . then onto main course Belly pork was dry lukewarm and not even tasty to go with this we ordered fried Rice we were served boiled rice, other main course was half bonelss duck ..the plates arrived hot but by time duck arrived plates were just about cold so was the duck this had been precooked a while ago and not properly heated through it was cold on middle and just warm outside. sauce was non descript to go with this l ordered a side of noodles and bean sprouts this arrived cold and so greasy so left that, had a waitress been handy l would have sent it back but did not wish to create a scene and as l was so hungry l ate about half of duck when l had put down knife and fork waitress arrived to ask how we were getting on it was too late then we just wanted to leave. waitress must have noticed how much we left but never asked why.. we paid and left certainly were not going to have dessert or coffee.
Very relaxed atmosphere. Also, very accommodating and took both bookings and walk ins. 1st visit (30/12) we opted for soups and dim sums. 2nd visit (01/01) we ordered meals. No complaints with food, menu had variety for everyone. Will go back again when visiting.
I wouldn’t recommend. It’s a classic greasy Chinese, but more expensive. The staff were very on it we were asked by 4 different staff within 5 minutes of sitting what we were eating. The first lady asked what we were drinking, when we said we hadn’t had chance to look yet, she seemed confused and took the drinks menu away. £18.50 for a Capital sauce beef which was a basic sweet and sour and very expensive to say it came with no side dish £3 egg fried rice that had no egg £5.50 duck pancakes, that were samosas £13.80 pork chow mein very bland and looked like the pork prices were boiled £5 chicken noodle soup which was very good! Whole bill came to £50 with an added extra charge for tip. I left most of my meal, but no comment was made by staff or question how our meal was.
